About My Decals

What are vinyl decals?
Vinyl decals are self-adhesive stickers of images or text cut out from a single piece of coloured signwriting vinyl.

The vinyl that is used is thin and pliable, meaning it can mould and conform itself to different types of surfaces.

Vinyl decals are durable, permanent and waterproof and can be applied to any smooth non-porous surface such as glass, plastic or metal.

What are your decals made of?
My decals are made from Oracal 651 signwriting vinyl.

I use this vinyl as it is very high quality and long lasting. The colours are vibrant and fade-resistant, and my decals will not peel or crack.

I use Oracal’s Oratape MT95 Clear Application Tape as my transfer medium, which is used to easily apply the vinyl decal to your chosen surface.

Are your decals waterproof?
Yes they certainly are waterproof.

They are also fade, peel and crack resistant, even under the hot Aussie sun.

Where are your decals made?
The entire process from initial design to cutting the decals all takes place in my studio located in Brisbane, Australia.

What is included with your vinyl decals?
Each decal consists of three layers – the white backing paper, the vinyl decal and the transparent transfer tape.

In addition to the decal itself you will also receive:

  • Detailed Instruction Sheet with Pictures
  • Isopropyl Alcohol Wipe (for surface preparation)

Applying My Decals

How do I apply my new vinyl decal?

Please refer to the instructions below. These instructions will also be included in the package with your decal.

I also have illustrated instructions and a video on my How to Apply page.

Your decal is made up of 3 layers – the white backing paper, the vinyl decal and the clear transfer tape.

  1. Clean the surface where you want to stick your decal, using the included isopropyl alcohol wipe. Allow to air dry.
  2. Before application place the decal on a flat surface like a table and rub firmly with a credit card or squeegee, up and down and side to side. Flip decal over and do the same on the other side.
  3. From one corner slowly and carefully peel back the clear transfer tape from the white backing, ensuring that the decal adheres to the clear transfer tape. Be extra careful with parts of the design that are small and delicate. If parts of the vinyl are not sticking to the clear transfer tape, go back and repeat Step 2 on those parts.
  4. Carefully position the sticker on to the desired surface. Once the vinyl sticks it will be nearly impossible to resposition it intact. Rub the sticker from one side to the other with your hand, to adhere it down and eliminate any air bubbles. Do not remove the transfer tape yet.
  5. Rub the sticker firmly with a credit card or squeegee, up and down and side to side, to make sure the decal is fully adhered to the surface.
  6. Slowly and carefully peel back the clear transfer tape from one corner, ensuring that the vinyl decal sticks to the surface and does not remain on the transfer tape. Be extra careful with small and delicate parts of the design. If parts of the vinyl are not sticking to the surface, go back and repeat Step 5 on those parts.
  7. Step back and admire your awesome new decal!

What surfaces can your decals stick to?

My decals can be applied to car windows, laptops, mobile phones, tablets, glass, doors, books, notebooks, hard plastics and any other clean flat non-porous surface.

It is not recommended to apply my decals to painted surfaces as the decal may lift and damage the paint if you wish to remove it in the future.

Can your decals be applied to painted walls?

If you wish to apply a decal permanently to a wall then go for it! It will stick fine, look great and last forever.

However, if you wish to remove the decal in the future I do not recommend it as it may lift and damage the paint on removal.

How do I remove a decal?

My decals are made with permanent vinyl and are generally for a single, permanent use, so they usually cannot be re-used after removal.

To remove your decal in the future, in most cases, they can be removed by picking at the edge and simply peeling off. Using a hair dryer on the decal to soften the adhesive will help this process.

For decals that have been stuck to a surface for a long time a plastic paint scraper will help to remove it.

Once the decal has been removed, clean the area with glass cleaner, degreaser or an adhesive-removing cleaner.

About Evoke Decals

Who is Evoke Decals?

My name is Kate and I lovingly design and cut all my decals from my home in Brisbane, Australia.

I discovered my creative side quite late in life, and in particular I honed in on drawing silhouettes, which have a great functional use when I turn my art into decals that can displayed in a great variety of places.

I’m an animal lover so naturally my favourite designs to create are based around this theme, but you’ll find many more different and unique decals available in my store, with more being added all the time.

Making decals is my happy time and I love nothing more than relaxing while I design, cut, weed and package decals for my customers, so that you receive decals that are made with love and care.

Where are you located?
I am located in Brisbane in sunny Queensland, Australia.

How long have you been making decals?
I first discovered my love of drawing silhouettes in the 2010’s and have been turning my art into decals since about 2018. I decided to take my craft online and sell my art decals in 2023, first selling on Etsy and eBay – and now my own website.

Do you have a physical store that I can visit?
At the moment I am only operating online as all of my decals are made to order.

How many different decal designs do you currently have?
Take a look in my Shop to see all of my available decal designs.

New designs are constantly being added so come back and visit often.
